One of the things I enjoyed most about working at the BBC’s New Broadcasting House in London was being able to pay my respects to the room named after my aunt Kari.
A lot of people like to call the Beeb ‘Auntie’. In my case, it happened to be true!
Kari devoted her life to reporting on Africa as head of the BBC World Service Africa.
Her colleagues put together this moving audio tribute, which was played at Kari’s memorial service by the old BBC Bush House at St Mary le Strand Church in 2007:
I have such fond memories of mountain walks with my aunt in Norway and Ben Nevis, attempting to learn sail with my cousin Tony in Suffolk and visiting Kari in London.
I just know she would be so proud of the incredible charitable work her inspiring son, my charismatic cousin, Jonan Boto has done in your memory. Your legacy lives on.
